Join pipeline fighters for a day of action on Saturday, May 28th!
Float the South Skunk! Join with us for a reading of Fracture and information session! We know this pipeline is not a done deal. The summer of resistance is just beginning.
9 am: Press event and launch of kayak / canoe flotilla along South Skunk River. We will host a press conference and launch at the Glendale public boating access located 4 miles northeast of Oskaloosa on T65 (Oxford Ave.) and float approximately 2-3 hours along the section of the river that would be crossed by the pipeline, disembarking at 7-generation landowner Sylvia Rodgers Spalding along the proposed pipeline route. All are welcome to float with us! We will have canoes/kayaks or you can bring your own. You are also welcome to join us for the send-off if you prefer not to paddle. To RSVP for the float, please email Angie Carter: angielcarter atgmail.com
3 pm: Following the flotilla, the group will host an informational meeting and book reading of Fracture: Essays, Poems, and Stories on Fracking in America at the Book Vault (105 S Market St, Oskaloosa, IA 52577). Carolyn Raffensperger, Fred Kirschenmann, Angie Carter, and Rachel Morgan will read their contributions to this recently published anthology. In addition, area landowner Sylvia Rodgers Spalding and members of the BPRC community will provide information about the growing movement to stop the Bakken pipeline in Iowa.
